A basic cream sauce can be utilized in many recipes. I tend to make this quite often using it with left over meat to make a mixture to put over
GF toast, rice or noodles, to expand into cream soups, or to make cream peas.
Ingredients:
1 sticks vegan butter
2-4 cups dairy free milk
salt and pepper to taste
In large frying pan, melt butter and add flour until well mixed without lumps. Begin adding milk, a little bit at a time. Bring to boil and cook until thickened. If the sauce is not quite as thick as you prefer, you can add small sprinkles of flour to the heated mixture, whisking it to blend into mixture.
Cook your mixture until the sauce is the desired thickness. At this point, you can choose what you would like to use this basic cream sauce with. Even adding it to GF noodles and or rice makes a tasty side dish.

So glad to discover this healthier approach to a “cream” sauce!
Thank you Carl. So glad to have met you and happy that you stopped by. I have truly been enjoying your blog
You have so many innovative recipes Mary…I will never utilize them all but it sure is wonderful how you share them. I feed one person most of the time, I am happy with an apple and a cup of yogurt for dinner. When Randy is here it is rice and steak, potatoes and steak, or steak and steak, lol.
You sound like me Jan. I could be happy with just a bowl of cereal, three meals a day. But, Michaela’s situation has forced me out of that habit and I know find myself cooking and baking all of the time, developing new and exciting recipes, or just converting old traditional ones
You know I bet this would be really good with pasta… I love white sauces….As always…XOXOXOXOXO
It is good with a lot of different concoctions, I’m finding. It is a good replacement for boxed items such as Hamburger Helper, etc. Just make the sauce and add what would be in the mix, such as GF noodles and hamburger meet, and whalah! Also, I am finding that rice, in place of noodles, is making some pretty tasty meals
What a wonderful dairy-free gluten-free white sauce! I love adding mustard to white sauce to make an easy mustard sauce.
This looks perfect! Thanks so much for sharing at Allergy Free Wednesday! I hope you’ll come back tomorrow.
My dear Mary,
Visiting from Blog Hop Saturday! but you already know me! LOL
Like you, my wife loves to cook and I love to eat! I’ve seen her make this sauce which she uses a lot, especially when making macaroni cheese. You’re right…it’s very versatile and can be used to bring leftovers back to life. Thanks for sharing. Thanks also for linking up to Blog Hop Saturday! See you again soon my dear.
